Hotel Byblos to Celebrate its 50th Anniversary
The famous 5-star hotel Byblos is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. It is located in the famous village of Saint-Tropez on the French Riviera This hotel is full of history and has been visited by many celebrities over the years.
In May 1967 a large number of people travelled to Saint-Tropez to attend the opening of the Byblos. Sources are unclear regarding the number of people who attended but one thing remains certain: among the guests were the singer Juliette Greco, the writer Françoise Sagan, the producer Eddie Barclay, and the famous actress Brigitte Bardot. The party will last for three days.
The Byblos was the first luxury hotel of Saint-Tropez and was built by a rich Lebanese man who, unfortunately for him, didn’t keep it for very long. So why did Jean-Prosper Gay decide to open his luxury hotel in a small village? Starting in 1956 the jet-set enjoyed coming to Saint-Tropez but luxurious establishments were lacking. So Gay jumped to the opportunity and opened the Byblos. But, few weeks after the opening, forced to go back to his country, he yielded the hotel to Sylvain Floirat.
Since then the hotel has seen many celebrities the likes of Jack Nicholson and music icon Mick Jagger. The hotel has everything to offer for Hollywood celebrities to spend some quality time in the famous beachside village: a Sisley Cosmetics-run Spa, a fitness room, an endermology center and a famous nightclub, Les Caves du Roy.
With the hotel celebrating its 50th anniversary this year we can expect many surprises all summer long and many more memorable parties.
